What makes our Site a unique place in the world?
La Granja of San Ildefonso houses one of the most unique regions chosen by many kings for many reasons.

First, the National Paradise. On the edge of this Royal Site of La Granja of San Ildefonso is located the Sierra de Guadarrama, National Park (2013) and a Natural Park (2010). And the Pinar de la Acebeda, the place where the water captation of the Aqueduct of Segovia starts, this place was chosen in 1930 as official protection status in the Spanish legal system. Last but not least, you can find the Biosphere Reserve Royal Site of San Ildefonso-El Espinar enclave.

Second is naturally the Historical Paradise. The establishments built in Valsain by the Kings of Castile in the Middle Ages, like “Casa del Bosque” a hunting lodge enlarged by Henry IV. Then under the reign of Philip II turned into the lavish Royal Palace of Valsain. Last but not least the Royal Palace of La Granja of San Ildefonso ordered by Philip V with its monumental fountains (download here the timetables ) famous because their water jets and its baroque gardens, unique in preserving the original trace in the whole world.

And third, the Artisan Paradise. The Royal Site of San Ildefonso has housed some of the most unique industries such as traditional ceramics or the first glass furnace of Ventura Sit, the origin of what would be the Royal Manufacture of Glass borned under the reign of Charles III, the Royal Glass Factory of La Granja today.
